On the Edge of Urban Regeneration

The Merano YPP workshop ‘On the Edge of Urban Regeneration’ is a call for young planning professionals to rethink urban regeneration that transcends the key fundamentals of sustainable mobility, biodiversity, smart city and energy and heritage integrity.

The workshop will be organised in collaboration with the Municipality of Merano, EURAC Research, Association of Disused Urban Area Requalification, and the ISOCARP Institute.

Mit der Tagungsreihe „Urbane Transformationen: Wohnen | Ressourcen | Öffentliche Räume“ wollen die Netzwerkpartner sich der Frage widmen, welche politischen, gesellschaftlichen und ökonomischen Perspektiven und Interessen mit Lebensqualität verbunden sind und welche objektiven und subjektiven Faktoren dabei eine Rolle spielen.

Vom 9. bis 11. September 2020 findet der zweite Teil dieser Konferenzreihe zum Thema „Ressourcen“ an der Hochschule München statt.

Das INUAS Netzwerk: Die Hochschule München gehört seit 2011 zum INUAS Netzwerk. Dieses Netzwerk soll zur Stärkung der Großräume München, Wien und Zürich als international bedeutende Wirtschafts- und Hochschulstandorte beitragen.

56th ISOCARP World Planning Congress taking place in Doha, Qatar from 8-12 November 2020

There will be seven tracks with the following topics:

  1. Understanding Urban Metabolism
  2. Taking Knowledge, Innovation, and Green Economy into Account
  3. Planning for Urban Connectivity
  4. Safeguarding the Urban Resilience
  5. Focusing on Culture and Heritage
  6. Creating Healthy and Inclusive Urban Environment
  7. Shaping Liveable Places

Your responsibilities
You and your co-rapporteur will have the following main responsibilities:

  • Develop the sub-themes of the track
  • Review and rate abstracts and later review the submitted papers, case studies and session proposals
  • Prepare an introductory report, descriptions, and outlines as well as an introductory presentation of the respective tracks
  • Coordinate and chair the track sessions and workshops at the Congress
  • Summarise the track results for the plenary session of the Congress
  • Prepare a written conclusion and track summary for the final report after the Congress
  • Select the best papers for the final report

Your benefits
As per ISOCARP policy, Congress Team Members shall receive a free Congress registration. However, travel and accommodation expenses are not covered and shall be borne by the Congress Team Members.

Eligibility criteria
Track rapporteurs are expected to have extensive experience and knowledge of the respective track/area they cover and must be an ISOCARP member who has attended at least one ISOCARP Congress in the past.

Promoting the European Urban Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals

The European Urban and Regional Planning Awards, organized every two years by the ECTP-CEU since 1990, provide a common framework for planning practice and rewards examples of good planning all over Europe and allow the European Council of Spatial Planners to promote the concrete implementation of the Charter of European Planning approved in April 2013 in Barcelona.

Since 2010, these awards have been supported by and have been in collaboration with the Committee of the Regions of the European Union where the Awarded projects have been presented to the COTER (Commission for Territorial Cohesion Policy and EU Budget) assembly of local and regional elected members.

The categories of the Awards are the following: 
• Regional Planning 
• Local Spatial Plan 
• Urban project
• Urban Design
